Reports To: LVN Supervisor
Supervises: None
  • Responsible for direct personal care of residents
  • Assist with medications
  • Provide First-Aid when needed
  • Assist in housekeeping as needed
  • Complete other duties and/or tasks as assigned by Supervisor or Administrator

Responsible for direct personal care of residents. Assist with medications, provide First-Aid when needed. Assist in housekeeping as needed. Complete other duties and/or tasks as assigned by Supervisor or Administrator

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow shift appropriate duties.
  • Assist residents with dressing and undressing, bathing and personal hygiene as needed.
  • Assist with food trays for Braemar and Jameson and for those residents who may be ill.
  • Assist with medications as directed by LVN.
  • Assist with residents personal and facility laundry as assigned.
  • Read and record incidents in communication log book and resident charts.
  • Complete ‘Unusual Incident Report” when needed. (Resident injury, property damage, etc.)
  • Keeps track of supplies and inform supervisor if items are low and need to be ordered.
  • Cleaning of kitchen, laundry and common areas as directed. Vacuum floor as needed.
  • Dispose of all trash.
  • Transportation: Pick-up/Drop-off residents as needed. Both on campus with golf cart when needed and off campus with company vehicles when assigned.
  • Secure building when needed.
  • Familiarize yourself will all emergency protocol and disaster preparedness.
  • Attend meetings and training as notified by supervisor or Administrator.
  • Complete other duties and/or tasks as assigned by supervisor or Administrator.

Education and/or Experience:

  • CNA Certificate desired.
  • Knowledge of residential care facility procedures essential.

Qualifications:

  • Ability and desire to give direct care to the elderly.
  • Ability to communicate with residents, resident family members, co-workers, supervisor, Administrator and/or Board Members.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions.

Licenses, Certificates or Registrations:

  • CNA (Certified Nurse’s Assistant) Certificate
  • Basic First-Aid
  • Continuing education and employee in-services as required.

Language Skills/Mathematical Skills:

  • Speak, read & write English
  • Basic Math including ability to convert simple measurements as needed.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • Stand, bend, lift, and reach. Hand dexterity for care of residents. Regularly required to stand, use hands, fingers, handle, feel, smell, taste, talk and hear. Employee is required to walk, reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to climb, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Ability to lift and/or move residents from laying to sitting, sitting to standing, standing to sitting. Use Back Brace or team lift when appropriate. Specific vision abilities required include; close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
